Ever since the government banned the use of stricknine a several years ago, moles have become a major problem throughout the country. The only safe and effective way of controlling moles now is by using traditional mole traps.
In the first instance we locate the mole runnels by feeling the ground with our feet. Once the tunnel has been located we insert a probe which will confirm that the tunnel is being used by moles. We then neatly remove the turf and soil so that the trap can be set inside the tunnel. The trap is then covered with the soil and the turf placed back on top. Very discreet markers are then used to mark the hidden trap. This exercise is then repeated throughout the site.
Moles check their tunnels for earth worms about every four hours and we mostly catch a proportion of the moles during that same day. A normal trapping exercise takes 3–4 visits for large estates. Sites which have regular mole problems can be covered by our preventative pest control system which give you scheduled mole trapping visits over the winter months.
